Damen from Parr, St helens died tragically following a fatal road traffic collision that occurred
on Grange Park Road, St. Helens on Saturday 30th September 2006.
On that Horrific night all he had done was gone to see his mates and then on leaving when driving
down the main road another horrible person in a car decided to pull out from the side road straight
into Damens path unforunately leaving him no time to react. This person took a gamble at a junction
with my sons life. My son had so much to live for he is loved and missed by so many people. The
driver now lives on without a care in the world seeing his family everyday if only he or anybody
else out there who do stupid things in cars would spend a day feeling how i feel (EMPTY) with my
heart broken wishing everyday for Damen to come home then i am sure they would or hope that they
would think twice before they do it again.
He will be sadly missed by his Mum, Dad, younger borther and sister.
And also his nan and grandad,aunties, uncles ,cousins,friends and anybody who knew him.He is a very
special boy who was loved by everyone who ever knew him. He was very good with everything he put his
mind or hands to from going out with his friends to fishing with his dad, to being a great role
model for his younger brother and sister and his little cousin, he would quite often turn his mates
down to go and play with her.He would often have his hands dirty ither doing jobs round the house or
for people or just fixing his bike or anybody elses he was an absolute star.Unless you knew Damen it
is very hard to believe or understand just how special he was but there are no words that could
express how special he is or how much that he is missed and loved.
Sadly he was taken from us way to soon,his adult life was just about to start,He left school in the
June 2006 gaining 13 gcse with so many plans for the future and within a few weeks had found
himself a full time job which he picked up very quickly and made lots of good friends.He had his
first driving lesson booked for the monday evening after work but unfortunately never made it, he
loved his scooter and took great pride in it, he made sure that he done everything right but it is a
shame that not everybody who uses the roads does the same.

Our son Damen
From the minute you were born,
You filled our lives completely,
From the minute you were born,
We loved you whole and deeply.
You lit a room up,
As soon as you walked in,
You cheered the mood up,
With your very special grin.
You were such a good lad,
You always knew good from bad,
You rarely needed telling off,
Apart from those smelly socks.
You were the best big brother,
That anyone could want,
You kept your sister and brother,
In check and safe from harm.
You spent your short life,
Making plans for the future,
You worked hard all through your life,
To make your future bright.
The day you got your scooter,
We argued right from wrong,
But then you got your full time job,
And we all just went along.
You earned your pay throughout the day,
And spent it all at night,
Checking out spares, and buying parts,
For your special bike.
We love you so and miss you lots,
Even though your out of sight,
Never forget you we will not,
Until we meet you once again,
Through that all bright light.

But someone took that away,
They never considered our feelings,
On that saturday.
You were only seventeen,

But someone took that from you,
They killed you, now you're dead.

If Only Our Children Were Easter Eggs
If only our children were Easter eggs,
Hidden safely in the grass,
We could search for them and pick them up,
And hold them within our clasp.
We'd have a heavenly Easter egg hunt,
All with baskets in our hands,
Searching with a broken heart.
Only WE can understand.
'Oh, look I found your child over here,'
'Hey, did anyone find mine?'
They are so beautifully colored,
And they sparkle and they shine...
These aren't your usual Easter eggs,
They each have their own special glow,
That comes from way down deep within,
Only a grieving parent would know.
We gather up our special eggs,
With excitement all around,
For the gift that we've been given,
For the treasure we have found.
We all now stare with wonderment,
At our children that have died.
We want to hold them once again,
And release them from inside.
But we all begin to realize,
We have to crack their beautiful shell,
The one that, makes them sparkle and glow,
The one they have earned so well.
We know we can't destroy their beauty,
And take them from their place,
So we give them an understanding kiss,
As a tear runs down our face.
One by one we take our baskets,
With our beautifully colored eggs,
And place them gently in the grass,
As we turn and walk away.
We look back in amazement,
As our eggs begin to sing.
We see them flutter and move about
'Look, our eggs all now have wings.'
Then the Golden egg begins to speak...
'Your children are safe with me.'
'You'll be with them when the time is right'
Together for all eternity.'
We stand there in a circle of love,
As we look up to the sky,
Watching our radiant eggs take flight,
Knowing our children didn't die.
